My littlest sister, Natanya, swears by doing this. I never believed her until recently when I ran out of my shaving gel. Using hair conditioner actually works amazingly. It gives you a closer shave and leaves your skin very, very smooth. It also is a lot less expensive. I have been shelling out $3.99 for shaving gel, when VO5 Strawberries & Cream hair conditioner is 85 cents! Not to mention the bottle lasts longer and smells better.
